Hettich has a new micro centrifuge called the Mikro 185 (which supersedes the MIKRO 120), and with its choice of four rotors that can hold 12, 18 or 24 samples, it is much more flexible and can satisfy a variety of requirements. All the separation steps necessary in molecular biological or PCR applications that do not require cooling can be performed rapidly and reliably with the Mikro 185.
Spin column kits (minipreps) can also be used, which is facilitated by the special 1213 rotor design. A maximum RCF of 17,008 can be achieved thus making this an ideal space saving, compact, high-performance centrifuge for individual workstations in a research laboratory. The parameters time, RPM and RCF can easily be set via arrow keys on the control panel, which is clearly laid out. These values are displayed on the backlit LCD display while the centrifuge is running. Practical features exist such as a pulse button for short runs when the button is pressed. Although compact in design, the unit is highly stable when in operation. Once centrifugation is concluded, the lid of the centrifuge opens automatically. The accessories with a bioseal offer protection against dangerous and aggressive aerosols.
