The Labotec Breakaways is a fun annual event for staff, and this year was the first since Covid lockdowns without masks and other distance restrictions. With that said, the general ambiance and mood of the day was liberated, lively, and fun. The Johannesburg branch decided to use their brainpower as they descended into the immersive escape rooms to solve challenging puzzles of intrigue, suspense, and adventure in the form of “Saving Sherlock”, and “Escape from the Cabin”, “Race to the Sacred Jewel” and more. Both KZN and CT branches rather explored their artsy relaxed side with Monet-inspired canvas and pottery paintings respectively.
After a morning of team building and fun, the annual prize giving was held at the eclectic bohemian-styled Railways café in Centurion with the branches online. The top achievers from the various departments were awarded for their efforts in 2021.
All in all, the Breakaway events reminded everyone of the value of their teamwork with peers and departments. This interconnection with each other forms a team that inspires, drives, cares for, and motivates, which is the ultimate driving force of the Labotec-driven culture.
