The annual Labotec Breakaway awards for staff at Labotec was somewhat different this year. Normally the staff break away to an external destination for an exciting teambuilding activity, but this year the event had to follow pandemic precautions. Understated and not-the-normal, the day was simply held at the Midrand head office, and live-streamed to remote workers and branches.
Eileen Fouche, Product Manager walked away with the esteemed Sales Person of the year award. She managed to overtake all her targets and set new boundaries. Then Jerry Mokwena, Stores Manager received the Internal Support Award for his dedication and commitment in keeping the warehouse and deliveries functioning especially during hard lock-down last year. He excelled in expectation. Tracy da Mata, Cape Town External Sales received the CEO award for her undeniable leadership qualities and wise rational balanced approach at Cape Town branch.
Then Werner Fourie, Service Technician received a 25 year service award for his invaluable service and commitment. Both Werner and Lucas Ngobeni, Stores Assistant celebrate 50 years this year, and they received a huge card from all the staff. The day ended with a healthy scrumptious lunch served in separate containers as a safety precaution.
Hopefully next year Labotec staff will be able to actually “Breakaway” for this long held tradition.
