The last Friday of September was a colourful affair at Labotec when the staff celebrated Heritage Day. Diving the staff into groups from different departments for a cook-off established a healthy competitive spirit, and by lunchtime, there was a delicious spread of authentic South African dishes from potjie, Mopani worms, chakalaka curries, biryani, and the good old braai for the judges to taste.
With everyone in their traditional dress the atmosphere was charged, colourful to the eye, and happy.
This rise in consciousness and the spirit of sharing in one space makes us all aware of how blessed we are to have such a rich, diverse cultural heritage in our country.
