The first ever African trade fair in the analytica-world network was a resounding success. Analytica Lab Africa took place from 9 to 11 July at Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg and the 90m2 Labotec stand saw more visitors than it has for over a decade at a Lab Africa, said Labotec Marketing Manager Debbie Shaw. The national and international exhibitor participation was high, plus the show was co-located so that visitors could benefit from extensive and comprehensive information, not only from laboratory and analysis technology, but food and environmental industries as well. In total, for analytica Lab Africa there were 148 exhibitors who presented their solutions and products to 3232 visitors over the three day period.
SCIENCE COFFEE MACHINE
On the Labotec stand, we built our own Science coffee machine from various equipment pieces, and distilled botanical extracts for tasting gin. It was a great time to network and catch up with clients, old friends and colleagues in the laboratory world, and the staff all dressed in their laboratory coats looked the part. There were five visiting principals from Europe from the companies Buchi, Integra Biosciences, Elga, Hettich and KNF who also extended their expertise for anyone looking for solutions and information on anything from water purification, extraction, chromatography, centrifugation, pump technology to manual and automatic liquid handling.
PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS
Products highlights were dependent on what the client was interested in, as the Labotec stand featured around 140 of the latest products from around 14 international suppliers. In addition, Labotec launched a new Labotec filtration range of filter paper and consumables as well as the Labotec Eco range. The Eco range sports around 26 products, all basic essentials often used in laboratories everywhere. The emphasis of this range is on local manufacture, durability and quality all available at an economical price for the local market. This range compliments the Labotec Precision range of balances and Labotec Precision range of furnaces which was launched last year.
NEXT SHOW
If you happened to miss this show, there will be another taking place in two years. The next analytica Lab Africa is scheduled to take place in 2021 from the 13 to 15 July, at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg.
